Keyboard shortcut keys

By default, the shortcut key for paste is "Cntrl + V", where copy is Cntrl C, and cut is Cntrl X.

If you'd like to program a shortcut key for a program, say, notepad.. Find the notepad icon you use to launch it, right click, properties, Shortcut, shortcut key.

Sounds like you enabled on-screen keyboard and the onscreen keyboard is missing. Click the "Ease of Access" icon, bottom left and make sure "Type without keyboard is unchecked"

Toshiba- L755D- keypad- mixed- up- spacebar- puts- a- dash- between words the i button goes to full screen and the o button opens a developer tool window

Maybe a virus or infection has hijacked the keyboard. Try booting into Safe Mode and see if it works. Also while in safe mode download and install MalwareBytes and run a Quick Scan.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode With Networking option (this will give you internet connectivity) and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. Open your internet browser, then download and install MalwareBytes and run a Quick Scan.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download and install malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When the site opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do not click the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the Gui Interface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version or Decline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run a QUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be in red. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad text document will open up showing you the results. You can close the text document and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTED RESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When it finishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot your machine.

If after the above steps you still have the problem try downloading and reinstalling the touchpad driver.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Toshiba Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.

If the issue still exists try Rolling your System back to a date and time before the keyboard started acting up by running System Restore.

Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Select a Restore Point (date and time) that is before you started having problems. System Restore does not delete you data, documents music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was installed after the restore point you selected).

System Recovery loses all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. It sets your system back to the time you first purchased it.

Why does My keyboard prints out a different letter than is typed? When I type Q ahhh comes out.

go into either notepad or wordpad and see if the keys type out correctly. If they do then that means the problem is specific to a program. if the same thing happens in notepad or wordpad then that means its a system problem.

You could have a key mapping problem and if thats the case you need to have it removed. Go either here to correct it:

Or go here:

If those two ideas don't work then you can always restore your system back to the last date that the keyboard was working properly.

Character keys won't work within microsoft Works document

One possibility that occurs to me is the text is the same color as the background. I have had this happen to me several times. Type something (even though you cannot see it) and highlight the area, and then change the text color.

Keyboard will not work

Try this and see if this works for you. Touch Keypad simulates a wireless phone keypad on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols just as if you were using a wireless phone keypad. Touch Keyboard simulates a 20-key QWERTY (typewriter) keyboard on the touch screen to allow you to enter text, numbers, and symbols similar to the way you would using a QWERTY keyboard. To use Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard:  In a program, tap the Input Selector arrow, and then tap Touch Keypad or Touch Keyboard. To type lowercase letters, tap the keys on the dial pad or keyboard. To type a single uppercase letter, tap the Shift key and then tap the corresponding key. To type all uppercase letters, tap the Shift key twice. To change back to all lowercase letters, tap again. To enter a space after the word, tap the Space key. To start a new line, tap the Enter key. To backspace and delete a single character in any input mode, press the Back key. To open the Symbol pad, tap the Symbol key. To change the input mode:  Tap the Input mode key to switch to a different input mode: XT9 (predictive), Multitap (abc), or Numeric (123).
Let me know if this works for you, if not let me know.

Use the backspace in between a sentance typed on Notepad, if that works - your keyboard and key is functional. Else, you might need a replacement Keyboard. (Click on Start > Run > Notepad > OK - To open notepad)
