GE Profile Artica no display

I would inspect the wires that are located at the bottom left freezer hinge, opening and closing tends to break the wires over time. crimp the broken wires into a sleeve type connector, there will be little to no slack to use wire nuts. If the wires are perfect, you might need a new display board, but the wires are the prime suspect...

check the evaporator fan; listen to see if it is running check the baffles between the freezer and, the refrigerator box for air flow. Check the control knob to see if it is turning the cold control shaft. If these are not the problem: replace the cold control

Refrig is frezzing

Your model a WR49X10091 Electric Controled Air Damper between the freezer and the fresh food section. Sometimes they get stuck open and sometimes the electric motor malfunctions. Most times a little frost will hang them up. Until we can see that we can get this part opening and closing properly we will need to unplug your refrigerator and examine the inside of the back of the freezer behind the rear panel to see if there happens to be frost stopping the door from regulating temperatures. I will be here waiting for your comments and results. Let me know what you find, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My freezer (ge artica) temperature goes up to 40%, then cools dow

The main problem with the Artica/Profile is that they have a main control board and a thermostat board inside the fresh food compartment. I have a repair manual and will send you a copy if you want but we are going to have to look at the control boards for burn marks. Let me know if you need me. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Frig gets too cold freezer works good

I had the same problem. I have the side by side Profile Artica. The problem was a broken damper. It allows the cold air in from the freezer side. With it broken, there was a steady flow of freezer air coming into the frig side. It was easy to fix. I ordered the part (damper/fan assemble) for around $100. While searching for a solution, it seems that this is a common problem. Unfortunately, I received a wide range of incorrect solutions to the problem which could have cost me a lot of money. I hope this helps!

GE Profile Artica Refrigerator

OK, it sounds like you have a defrost problem. When left unplugged for a few days the frost melted off the evaporator (the cooling coils behind the freezer wall) but after you ran it again, the coils blocked the air flow again, usually happens after a week or so, depending on # of door openings, humidity in home, etc. Most likely you have a burnt out defrost heater.

Profile Artica Freezer is warming up to 32 degrees

There are 2 dials in a refrigerator. One is the thermostat the other is the air damper between the freezer and the refrigerator section. make sure your air damper is open about 1/2 way. If air does not get from the freezer to the refrigerator the thermostat might not be reading a proper temp. If you open the damper to much then you can start freezing food in the refrigerator. Some refrigerators have a opening back to the freezer down behind or beside the chrispers sometimes a paper or wraper can get down there and block air off from returning stoping the normal cycle.
I don't know if this is a solution but they are easy to check and eleminate as a possibility.

Side by side not cooling

Couple of things... first need to see if the compressor is really hot to the touch and "clicking" on and off every 3-5 minutes due to high heat (trying to start). If that's what is happening you likely have a "start device" failure (little box on the side of the compressor). If the box is white in color and you pull it off and it makes noise when you shake it (along with little bits of debris falling out) you know it's bad. They make a kit to fix that known problem. If the compressor isn't trying to start but actually runs quietly... check that the cooling coil isn't all iced up preventing proper air flow inside the cabinet (take the panel of the rear inside of the freezer section to check it). If that is all a block of ice basically you likely have a defrost cycle problem (defrost t-stat bad, defrost timer bad, etc.). Other than that you should have a little fan right above the coils to move air around, if the compressor is running and the compressor fan (called condensor fan) is running then this fan (called evaporator fan) should also be running to move the cold air around. If that fan is dead then you will have a nice cold coil but no air flow over it to cool the rest of the refer/freezer properly. Let us know what ya find out.
