Check your power supply. Sounds like a bad or insuffecient power supply.

I'm having the same thing happen. It's not the memory, if you remove the battery that holds the BIOS info for ~15 seconds and put it back in and then turn the computer back on again the DRAM LED turns off. The CPU light still stays on for me though, apparently I'm not the only one having this problem. I just wish Amazon would refund me my $180, and not sell products that have a record of being faulty. I should have taken hint that something might happen when i saw that Newegg, ZipZoomFly, and TigerDirect don't sell this motherboard.

I have an asus a7n8x-la mother board. It ran fine except the cpu cooling fan would speed up and the cpu heat sinc was very warm as compared to others. Finally it would not boot or go to post with the beep....

First of all set the BIOS default.
i think somebody change your Bios settings like-- over clocking or speeding fan etc etc.
add comment for further assistance.
Good Luck!

I get a Post audio message on boot up/but no bootup

i have just thrown out 3 ASUS boards for various problems. they seem to last approx 18months before they die.
video output goes wrong, cpu socket errors, all sorts of problems and a rubbish tech support at ASUS does not help.
