I got this Sony PCV-W500GN1 desktop for 6 years. If I turn it on, it makes a noise like its exerting effort. Likewise it doesn't stay long after I turn it on it just suddenly turn off by itself. I can't turn it on again unless I unplugged the power chord from the power supply outlet. I want to open the casing to see what's wrong inside but it's so closely packed that I can't figure out how to do it. I would appreciate any help you could offer to help me with this problem.
Could be one of two most common problems?
#1
Have you ever replaced the CPU Cooler (Heatsink/fan)?
CPU Cooler fan may be working, Heatsink dirty.
CPU is over-heating = mainboard turns off
Replace CPU Cooler
#2
Power Supply fan not working causing partial failure on 5volt or 12volt side.
Replace Power Supply
There are more causes but these are most common for short-time boot problems.
Another could be hard-drive, but that wouldn't shut system down like first two would.
