Question about Canon PIXMA MP810 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Pink lines when I print on proper Canon photo paper

My MP810 has worked excellently for months - now without warning it has begun to print hundreds of pink/red lines across the pages when I use any size of proper photo paper... The problem does not occur with standard plain paper.
However when I go to tools and follow the cleaning procedure and follow up with a test print out the problem lines show up as single pink lines either side of the second cyan colour block and the second magenta block.

Hi I have an excel question. Here is what I need to do. I need to do a sales analysis YTD with several different project types that I need to split up over which month the sale was taken in.

it will take too long to explain and then the explanation may not cover your question
go out and buy a "excel for dummies" book and all the processes that excel can do is explained
or go google and type in--- user manual for excel -- and see if there is a pdf version for down load
if there is it could be several hundred pages long but you could select the pages relevant and print them only

Thank you stephen - we have been discussing my brother hl2040 problem and i have re installed the drivers as you suggested and i have the printer back on line and working -except now i realise that excel...

Hi Ron, you can just add a comment on your old or this question, and i will be notified that you have done so, this will save you from paying again, and will let you answer me if i need more info, i think the comment section is under question and marked as a speach bubble, i will add a comment to this so you can see when im done.

Great you have the driver new so we know thats not our issue, but please check paper size is set correct for your tray in that driver in control panel printers, but /i guess what is your issue now is paper size settings. It sounds like your default page size is correct in excell but it is not in word ( i guess it is from word you are telling me you are having problems because windows dont print, word does.

Does it print fine when you do test print in control panel/printers/ right click on icon, print test page?...I guessing it does, so that means word is our problem without doubt...

It depends on what versions of programs we are using as to where things are so if it isnt exactly as i say thats why.... normally i speak from a windows 7 and word 2003 point of view but they are all simular just not exactly the same...

Open a document in word and we need to check what page size it is, to do that it in Word look under file, page size, now this needs to be same as what you have the setting set for your main tray in the printers driver (control panel/printers/printing preferences). Click for word info

If it is not the same and you send it to the printer it will "think" "mmm I dont have that size word is telling me to print" and go "well lets divert to manual feed slot and ask operator to feed me the size he wants"

Once you get the page size correct for a particular document in word, you will need to save it again so it remembers, but this will need to be done in every old document as they seem from here to be set incorrectly. I also would guess if you open a new blank document in word, it will also be wrong page size, so you need to set default document page size correctly too, so when you start new word documents they will be right to print. Click for info on changing default size in word

It is possible that word is right and excel and printer properties is wrong and you have same issue you are experencing, but you will know by comparing, page size in word/excel and print driver.

There are other settings in word that change what tray (manaul or tray) the first page of a document is sent to printer, but i will go there with you if above is in vain. Or you can see the help file in whatever version of word/works or office you are using to get a better understanding of its features and settings, or let me know by comment what versions of programs you are using ( ie windows XP/vista/7 and Office 2003/2008/2011 etc) and i will help sort it as best i can, but im a printer tec with some software experance, not a software engineer, and your issue is sounding more and more like a software issue now not a brother printer problem, but im all good with that as i run across it often enought to be able to help.

Hi Everytning I print has a very narrow pink line straight down the centre of the page, also every so often the print has a black/yellow/blue/pink thick line running across the page. Thanks

The narrow pink line is coming from your magenta toner/drum cartridge. You may be able to open the from cover and look at the 4 toners. If you look at the magenta (like pink) cartridge, you might see the thin line on the drum surface.
The multicolored band that sometimes shows up on your prints is most likely the transfer belt unit. This is caused by an area of the belt that is not being cleaned very well. This probably tends to show up when you are running mutilple prints of a page.
So it looks like to may need to replace your magenta toner and look at getting a transfer belt unit.

Dell 5100cn printer printing yellow lines across the page.

This can be any of rthe following depending on the position iof the lines on the page. You need to establishe the position of the lines relative to the top of each page and this determines which of the following component will cause the problem

Dirty or damaged developer roller.
Dirty or damaged charging roller.
Dirty or damaged cleaning roller.
Dirty or damaged developer DSD wheels. These wheels are located on the outer ends of the color toner cartridge and appear as a black bushing.
Dirty or damaged transfer roller.
Dirty or damaged transfer drum.

All of them need inspecting and cleaning

First print line print fades away across page,

The page size is off. Try readjusting it in your "printing preferences". Otherwise, if it is new, back to the store for a replacement. It really should not do that.
