Turns on only with usb (3g 8g) not with out it
Sounds like a bad battery, these are very tricky to fix, it involves taking the whole iphone apart... If I were you I would just go to craigslist.org and search your local area for "iPhone battery repair" people do it all over it will cost you around $40

Keep restoring on itunes
If your in a restore loop in itunes, where it always says you need to restore the iphone. I would restore from another CPU or make an appointment at the Genesis bar to restore .

This will tell you a lot if you get the same error on 2 different computers then you iphone needs service

Iphone 8G forgotten password to unlock phone
The only way to bypass it is to put it into recovery mode. You can do this by turning it off and then holding the home button down then plugging it into the computer with itunes. The one you sync with. The phone will be in recovery mode, start iTunes and then you will be prompted to restore your phone. If you need further assistance, please ask.

recommend u restore with itunes, use quickpwn to install new firmware, use bootneuter to unlock sim (if sim is still unlocked).

I spend few hours researching this issue. you cannot upgrade to 2.0 and need to restore to 1.1.4 and ziphone 3.0 to jailbreak.

Yes it can be fixed what you will have to do is restore the iPhone 3G by doing that you will have to connect your iphone to your computer and iTunes will open then under devices pick your iPhone and you will see the restore button in grey click it and presto.
