Studying chemistry is important to many high school and college students, because of its being a core requirement for a long list of degree programs - for example, scientists (chemists, biologists, biochemists, other), medical healthcare practitioners (doctors, nurses, physicians associates, others), pharmacy, dentistry, doctors of osteopathy (DO), chiropractors, and others.

An advanced science degree is not absolutely required for a doctor of chiropractic degree (DC), but without it, Graduates with a DC degree would not be able to obtain a license to practice in some states, which do require it.

Aspiring physicians and pharmacists must take and pass at least two semesters of organic chemistry; and before they can even take that course, they must also take and pass two semesters of general chemisty, chemistry I and chemistry 2, and generally, they must earn A or B in these courses to be competitive for entry into the academic programs of their choice.

Hi,
Chemistry is very important although it may not be something immediately important in your life.
The knowledge you gain slowly through school and university is amazing.
Without knowing chemistry you may not know what those chemicals listed in the ingredients in your food are. You may in the future mix house hold chemicals and get something dangerous, this has happened in the past, and when it does happen you wouldn't know how to best protect yourself.
Chemistry works hand in hand with everything from biology to what your using in your house, everything including plastics (organic chemistry).

Once again the chances of you using something like hybridization is everyday life is very unlikely however the little things you learn can help immensely.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated

What are the chance of becoming a pilot?

Your subject choices are apt. But just bear in mind that, what Airlines are looking for when they say they are looking for future pilots, is exactly that (and nothing more). E.g; if at some point during the multi-staged interview process, you are given/placed into a scenario that is not 'on a plane', for instance. you're asked to role-play the role of a boss of a furniture factory, a disgruntled customer had phoned in and complained to your staff(a manager) about the color of paint used on a chair.. how do you resolve the issue?
Answer: YOU must take that scenario and make it plane/pilot related. So Boss=Pilot, staff(manager)=Hostess, customer=passenger, color of chair=brand of soda served..
And then you resolve THAT scenario, and follow up by going back to the furniture factory scenario. THAT is the type of candidate that will make it through to the simulator stage of pilot assessing

I have a 24x52 pool added 310# of salt . Have several times read high salt emptied some water, added and have good readings. Then a few days later will get a high salt reading again. i keep repeating the...

For starters I would bring a sample of your water to a pool store and they usually test it for free. They will then make recommendations. Be certain that everything you add to a pool is necessary based on the test results. If you are draining or partially draing the pool then sometimes chemicals recommended by the pool supply store will not be necessary. The following is what I would do to keep a pool blue:
1. Make sure salt is at the recommended concentration.
2. Only shock the pool to if the chloring level has droped below about 2 ppm.
3. Place the recomended dose of stabilizer in the pool.
4. Make sure pump and filter are working properly.
5. Check the pool chemistry on a daily basis for about a week to. I recommend test strips that at least measure chlorine, Ph and stabilizer.
6. Check the chemistry on a weekly basis and clean the pool and equipment according to the pool instructions.

Smile, you are a pool manager.

What is chemistry?

Chemistry - is the science of matter and the changes it undergoes. The science of matter is also addressed by physics, but while physics takes a more general and fundamental approach, chemistry is more specialized, being concerned with the composition, behavior (or reaction), structure, and properties of matter, as well as the changes it undergoes during chemical reactions.

- It is a physical science which studies various substances, atoms, molecules, crystals and other aggregates of matter whether in isolation or combination, and which incorporates the concepts of energy and entropy in relation to the spontaneity of chemical processes.

Thats true that air is a transparent material?

Sorry for not giving you your anwer earlier in "solution 1." At the time, I wasn't sure what you were asking. You were asking "WHY of HOW is air transparent?" I think your question is a very good and thoughtful question, because it's a question that shows you are already aware of some of air's chemical and physical properties. Most people probably take the air around us so much for granted that they have forgotten that they are constantly wading through it every minute of the day.

Well, to anwer your question, there are at least two main reasons why air is transparent and allows us to see through it anything on the other side of it:

1) At the surface of the Earth at 1 atm pressure, air is composed of gas molecules that are individually moving particles that are far apart, that is, having a low density. Most of the visible light just passes between the particles and allows us to see through the air around us. That's probably the simplist explanation of why we can see all the objects around us that are surrounded by clean air, say in a small well-lighted room.

We might become more aware of the air's presence when we try to look at the sun. During the day when the sun is mid-sky during the morning or at noon, we dare not even try, because the air is very transparent to the sun, and the light from the sun would damage our eyes. However, if we look at the sun at near sundown, we can look at and enjoy a glorious sunset. The reason for this difference is because, at noon, we are looking at the sun, whose light rays are passing through mostly very thin air in our upper atmosphere; but at sunset, the sun's rays are passing directly through much more of our atmosphere, that is, going through it sideways, almost parallel to the surface of the Earth. Also it has to pass through the more of the constituents of our air (clouds, water vapor, and dust), whose particles absorb the sun's light.

2) The other reason is that the visible band of light, to which human eyes have adapted, happens to interact very little with atomospheric gases (N2, O2,CO2, H2O vapor, etc). That is, molecules of gas do not appreciably absorb visible light, and thus can pass right through it. We are able to see light being transmitted through or reflected off objects and "see" them even though air is all around them.

When you study chemistry (and also physics), you will learn much more about the properties of gases, about light energy, and about the structure of atoms. Thinking about air and light is a great way to develop your curiosity for the behavior of matter in general! Because of your interest in these topics, you will find your studies of chemistry and physics very rewarding and interesting. Good luck!

What causes bad battery life?

Bad battery life has a number of major causes: The primary causes are: Selection of the wrong battery chemistry or type for the camera used Extremely power-intensive use of the camera A damaged battery (probably the least common cause of bad battery life) The way in which the camera is used is at least as important as the battery chemistry selection in influencing battery life. The highest power-usage modes in any digital camera will be video and live preview. Thus, heavy users of these modes will see the shortest battery life. Other significant power consumers are the strobe, zoom motor, fill flash, and the image LCD display. For longer battery life, use these modes only as necessary.
