I am having this same issue but here's a little back story to see if it matches anyone else's:

My Zen Vision:M ran out of battery and I left it in my car for about 3 days before trying to recharge it. Once I tried, I couldn't get it to respond to being plugged into my laptop's USB. I don't have a wall charger so I just kept trying to plug it into different computers but nothing helped. When I push the on/off switch to the left to power it on, I can see it lighting up blue but when I let go it turns off.

I figured there may be a problem with the USB cable so I tried switching it out for a different one. Once I did this, the blue light behind the on/off switch blinked repeatedly when plugged in. If I leave it plugged in long enough, it gets to a point where the battery/lightening icon comes on. I've left it plugged in for two days and it will not go past a green low battery icon. When this icon is on the screen and I move the on/off switch to the left to turn it on, it does and goes through the normal first couple of Creative Zen logo screens. Then it gets to a Rebuilding Library screen and gets to about halfway before it just shuts itself off.

After this, I have to wait a while before the battery icon will appear again. It seems to me that the Zen can't get enough of a charge to rebuild the library. It's like it's exerting itself too much and just shuts back down. I'm guessing this is some sort of issue resulting from letting the Zen stay on a dead battery for a few days. Lame, but I've heard before that this was an issue so my bad. I'd appreciate any feedback!

My Vision: M Only rebuilds halfway when I reset it. It won't rebuild my pictures, video's and most of my songs. Out of the approx. 4900, I only have 1526?!!!! Can someone tell me what to do?! It didnt do it 3 days ago. It rebuilds halfway and then it jumps to the now playing screen.

I have had my player plugged into my computer for over 48 hours, but it still won't charge completely! It has the charging icon, but it will only charge up to 3/4ths of the battery!

I had the same problem, but when i tried to charge, first nothing happened but the blue light flashes. Then the icon of the battery came up (i think an half hour or so later) after that i tried to put on my mp3 while it's still connected and then it began rebuilding. The player starts like normally and goes into the load section. Now i don't know if everything went well i hope it's charging to green!

Well, i had the same problem as everyone else... when it is not plugged to the wall it wouldnt even turn on. When I plugged it in, it showed the plug icon, but not the charge icon...
I gave it a try at the creative website, and found the recovery tool... i downloaded it and updated the firmware... and then it is charging again! hope that helps.

ps. PRAY!

Mine is doing this as we speak - it ran out of power yesterday, I left it charging a while last night and now trying again this morning. It does this from time to time, but usually works OK.

The only thing I can suggest is that you keep unplugging and replugging the USB into the player. That usually works on mine, but it hasn't worked yet this morning.
