Make sure you don't have the HOLD button engaged. This button is what keeps your station buttons, power, etc., from accidently switching when you bump it.

This button is found on the top right hand side of the radio if you are looking down on the radio with the clock display facing you.

If the button is showing the red painted mark, you have the HOLD button engaged. Switch it off, and then press the Power button to turn on the radio.

Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 minutes then reconnect it...verify that the battery is charging properly..sounds like the battery does not have enough cranking power..if he jumped it and it ran okay until you shut it off, the alternator is working properly, battery needs replacement...cheers.

When i push the ptt button on my audiovox radio it shutsthe radio off

Commonly this can be a sign of a low or bad battery. It takes more power to transmit than to receive, so when you press the PTT button on a radio with a poorly charged or bad battery it will often fail. The same radio will run in standby mode (receive only) for long periods of time.

So before looking for a more complex problem, you might try swapping your battery with another radio's known good battery to see if it solves the problem.

Best regards.

Re: MagOne by Motorola, BPR40 -- What button should I push and how many times to make a radio stop beeping repeatedly before I can communicate? Thanks!

None of the buttons will solve this issue.

A repeating low tone is heard when you press the PTT if your battery level is low. You may have a bad or poorly charged battery. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive, so the first place this shows up is when pressing the PTT. A quick way to check this is to swap batteries with a known good radio and see if the problem switches to the other radio.

Battery tips: Clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser to remove the film caused by hand oil. Always charge your battery with the radio turned off. And be certain your charger is plugged into an outlet that is not connected to a light switch shutting off power. Batteries last approx. 2 years. Check your battery's date code to see its age. (3 or 4 digit number, first one-two numbers are the year, second two are the week of the year. example: 1132 would be 2011 the 32nd week)

If the above does not solve your problem, you should see your local Motorola dealer, or a nationwide repair center for more assistance. Current flat rate repair on this style unit is typically around $69.

FYI: Your buttons are likely top button = monitor/sticky monitor and the bottom button could be hi/low power, scan or one of several other features. Each button has a short and a long press option.

Best regards.

Radio is beeping every 30 secoonds and no buttons are being pushed

This could be a low power warning. Make sure that your batteries are fresh and fully charged, and that the contacts on the batteries and inside the radio's battery compartment are clean and free of corrosion.

Walkie talkie symbol stuck on cannot remove it

The symbol you are describing indicates you have the radio on HI power. It will not go away unless you reprogram the radio to LOW power, or change to a low power channel. Here is a link to the user guide:

I have a 2000 cadillac sls. Battery ran down, can't use radio&CD

Try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes to reset the radio and factory amp. Disconnect negative terminal only and avoid touching your 8mm wrench to the positive post(s). Read the warnings on top of the battery about smoking and open flames and safety glasses too, or you can read the owner's manual and pull the radio memory fuse for 10 minutes.

Nautico 1 keeps going to channel "1a"

Found out it was a low battery. We had charged it for several hours, but it was apparently low. It is supposed to show the low battery symbol, but it never did. We put it new AA batteries instead of the power pack and it worked just fine. Thanks
