Auto Focus Stoped Working

Could be an aerial problem! Could just need readjusting!

Those quick fast flashes usually mean the camera is trying to find contrast to take the photo but it can't. The scene might be to dark and the camera can not set it's focus and there for cannot take a picture. Move the camera slightly from left to right on the subject and see if it can manage to set focus. It's normal for the camera to give out these quick flashes as it is trying to find some sort of contrast in the subject, turning on a room light might help this?

Now when you manually focus, then the camera does not have to use it's built in auto focus sensor and will let you take a photo when you manually focus on the subject.

ahaha.... never mind. I was dinking around with it again and turns out, infinity focus only works if facial recognition is on... why, i don't know.

You have a film camera, you should have AF lenses. The AF lenses are larger round then older manual lense as you can have the older Minolta lens will fit the newer cameras, just not auto focus. If your AF is not working with AF lenses, I will assume you have power to the camera (batteries) These camera are not hard to use. To AF the camera, press the shutter down slightly (you can try without film) and it should focus on the center of your shot. Indoor and under low light, they will have trouble with these older AF bodies.

Check the lens. If the switch is set to MF then it is in Manual Focus.

Another cause could be custom function 4 - try setting this to 0 for the default

My first suggestion is to send it back if it is under warranty.

The grease probably got so thick, from the cold, that it caused too much resistance for the auto-focusing mechanism. You probably have damaged the focusing mechanism in the lens. You cannot repair this, yourself. I don't know how cold is too cold but it really shouldn't have done that.... Tamron makes cheap lenses. Try and exchange it for at least a Sigma.
