Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore 80 series gas dryer that will not heat up anymore. I took off the small clip in front and can see the heating element start but no flame or heat . Also the dryer will make an intermittent noise and go away. I had the heating element replaced about three yrs ago. Any ideas?

Check the thermal fuse on the blower housing,if it shows good then possibly the gas valves are weak on the burner tube and wont let gas into the burner

Gas or Electric? If Gas it could be the gas valve isn't opening, this keeps the burner from lighting. If electric your heating element is most likely burned out.

No heat in kenmore series 80, model 85040

hello there:
here is some troubleshooting ideas for you to help
A dryer sometimes won't heat or heats too slowly because of a variety of reasons. By following the guidelines below, you can inspect the heating elements on a gas or electric dryer to pinpoint the source of the problem.
Electric heating elements, found in electric dryers, are self-contained units located in the back of the dryer. A defective heating element is frequently the source of no-heat or drying problems. Remove the back service panel to gain access to the elements.
The heating elements are located inside the heater ducts. If you think a heating element is faulty

Kenmore 80 series gas dryer has not heat

most of these dryers have a little plastic plug on the front, left side. pop that plug out and look inside after turning it on. you should see a red glow. if not, then your ignitor has broken. if you see a glow, then the problem is probably one of the two little coils on the gas valve. these coils will sense if there is something to light the gas [the red glow] and open the valve - if the coils are bad, they won't open the valve

Kenmore gas dryer series 80 not heating up--dryer revolves but no heat--guessing it's the ignitor--can't access-no lower panel to open tomroske@msn.com

small plug left side bottom remove it this will allow you to see if ignitor is coming on if it is suspect the coils on gas valve or no gas to dryer if no glow possible bad thermal fuse remove back small white object on blower housing ..if no lower panel ..remove 2 screws under filter pop top 2 clips 1 each side about 2-3 inches from end..2 screws 5/16 1 each side upper corners remove lift front off
