Question about Whirlpool RBD305PD Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

I just replaced the control panel. Everything lights up, but most of the keys won't work and the keys that do work will control a different function such as temp up actual moves minutes up. After a minute I am now getting an E1 F2 code which is detailed as Keypad keytail not connected. On the original control panel the slot where the ribbon connected was numbered 1 - 14 and fit exactly. The new part is also numbered 1-14 but is a little longer and has a few more connectors. It could be numbered to 16. Do you think my problem is due to the ribbon not connecting to the connector just right on the control panel or do I also need a new keypad. I have tried inserting the ribbon to the left and then to the right and tried in the middle, but with no luck of getting it to work correctly.

Upper oven problem,

The Keypad (membrane) switches seem to be malfunctioning, this is very common on ovens these days especially if the unit has been self cleaned often. If you replace the membrane switch the unit should have all its functions again.

F7 dC

Hi there,

Well first of all you determine if problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting Ribbon Cable from control and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs
If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.
If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.

This error code F7 means Function pad button stuck or Bad clock: Unstick button or Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC)......
Post comments for more help or information........

Good Luck!!

Getting F7 code on a ge profile performance oven , oven light will not turn off and control panel will not respone.....beeps when I push CLEAR OFF button.

F7 A = Function pad button stuck or
B = Bad clock Unstick button or
Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC)
Try gliding your finger flat across the keypad rapidly and see if you can unstick the key / touch pad. Usually once this code appears it will repeat.

On self cleaning ovens this is the service check:

Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting Ribbon Cable from control and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs

If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.

If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.

Thanks for using FixYa!

HI. This will be the actual control board in this case, that will be the culprit. the control board, and touch pad, are integrated. These symptoms are indicating that the key pad membrane is damaged. This will require you to replace the entire control board. Once the control is replaced, these issues will be corrected.

F7 fault code on the Jenn-air W30400W

The F7 error code on your oven indicates the touch pad has failed. To repair it you will need to replace the touch pad which is listed as a control panel w/keypad in the parts diagram.
If you do the repair yourself, disconnect the power to the oven. Take the 3 screws out above the door that hold the control panel on to the oven. Pull the control panel out at the bottom and lift it up, then pull out the top and drop it down so you can see the back side of the control panel, and you will see a ribbon connector going from the touchpad to the electronic oven control (ERC).
There is a latch holding the ribbon connector to the ERC, raise the latch to release and pull the ribbon out of the ERC.
Replace the part and reverse these instructions to replace the control panel.

Hope this helps .

Control panel for oven functions has gone blank with occasional beeping sounds

The control panel may have a power issue. Replacing the board fixed my problem. It looks like 4 resistors and a ZD1 diode heat up and fail. The U1 chip could also be a problem. If you replace the controller it will cost around $225. Be careful of the key pad ribbon cable. They break easily. Another $186. Good luck.
