Malibu power packs are 1-piece units that can't be taken apart.
However you can cut off the cord and leave about 4-6" of cord sticking out, and then splice into the cord that's sticking out.

Usually I buy heavy orange or black extension cord with male-female plugs on each end.
I cut off female end and use that end to splice into the cord that's sticking out.

How to splice wire.
Use knife and slice down the cord lengthwise... just cut through the outer plastic covering.
Pull the outer cover cover back to reveal black and white wires.
Cut off extra cover.
Cut back insulation on each black and white wire.
Now you have 2 black wires and 2 white wires/
Twist together the copper wire on whites and cover with plastic electrician tape.
Do the same with copper wires on blacks.
Now the blacks are joined/ and whites are joined, and each has tape over copper wire.
Wrap black tape around both sets of wires until all the black and white is covered with several wraps of tape.
That's it. Plug it in.

The Malibu power pack model ML88T can be opened. It is a little tricky but can be done. 1st you have to peel back the two lower corners of the white sticker on the front of the power pack. On some units it is easier to remove the whole sticker. This will reveal 2 screws which will require a # T10 torxs driver to remove. Next in the center of the timer dial there is a small plastic cap with the word " Time" on it and an arrow. Make a note as to where the arrow is pointing and then carefully pry it up until it pops off. Then remove the timer dial by pulling up on it. This will reveal one more torxs screw, before removing it check the location of a small white gear in case it falls out when you open the unit you will know where to replace it. Once this screw is removed the unit will open without a problem. When reassembling make sure the "time" arrow is pointing to the original location before it is snapped back in place. That's it.

Thanks Ron. I'm going to dig out my old non-functioning power pack and give it a look. Do you have a source for power pack parts? Are you able to fix the clock motor? Have you looked at newer digital power packs to see if same instructions apply?

Iron will not stay on

More than likely your power cord has a broken wire. Plug the iron in and mover the cord around. See if you can find the broken wire. Typically where the cord comes out of the iron and right at the plug. Or replace the whole cord. Your local hardware store, youtube, or menards can show you how. Very easy to do. I tend to stay away from home depot.

Plug gets hot on my vintage sunbeam CG waffle maker

You can replace the power cord on these models easy enough, as the cord is actually attached to a small black, plastic box that can be opened to replace the cord. You can find cords at home improvement or hardware stores. Before going this route, make sure the wall outlet you are plugging the waffle iron into, is properly grounded. You can check this by using a small outlet testing tool that lights up green or orange if installed properly or improperly. It also checks for reverse polarity, in addition to bad ground.

My son cut the power cord to the tv, how do I replace the cord? can I replace the whole cord from the back of the TV?

That cord in this model is usually a plug in--inside the set it either goes to a plug or is soldered in place.

Depending on how short it was cut it can be repaired--notice that here the cord has two sides---one will be smooth and the other has a white stripe or is rough----if spliced the splices must match the ones on what is left of the cord-----cord is polarized and should not be plugged in unless matched to set.

A fairly easy repair if done right--most people or any outside repair person can easily do this.

My Kenmore Progressive vacumn motor turns off and on while vacumning. I don't know if I should take it for repair, purchase a new one or find someone who can do easy repairs (family member).

Turn on the vacuum but don't move it--just start at the plug end of the cord, bend and pull gently on the cord, but hold the plug in the socket. Work along the cord while listening to the motor for cutoff. When you get to the internal break in the cord, any bending or pulling will immediately start and stop the motor. If this occurs near either end of the cord, it can be cut off shorter and a replacement plug put on (if on that end). If it is the vacuum end, the machine needs to be disassembled part way to reattach the cord. If the break is near the center of the cord, just replace the entire cord. Good luck!

Keeps tripping circuit breaker everytime on plug the power cord in

2 common, possible problems. 1 - there is a "short" in the plug - easy fix - replace either the cord or plug - not expensive. 2 - bad control board - not so easy, not so cheap. Is it brand new, used? Also, it could be a bad "internal breaker" - not easy!

Cord short ccircuit

The back comes straight off. All you need to do is take a small screwdriver and pry against the bottom metal piece, then it should start to come off. Make sure you take it off carefully so as not to break anything. Pry evenly all around the plastic end cap until it comes off.

After that, you can replace the cord. It's connected via two crimp caps. Easy to replace. Just make SURE you purchase a cord rated for an iron.. DO NOT clip the plug end from an extension cord or similar and use it. The iron uses 16 gauge HEATER CORD. Easy to find, but you could melt your power cord and possibly cause a fire if you don't replace it with the correct type.
