I have installed 2 new inks and still get a message asking me -- install new ink cartridges to continue .. I purchased these new inks 2 hours ago.

Hi,
Install the cartridge by following the steps given in this link.
If the problem persists you will need to reset the printer.
Follow these steps to reset the printer:-
  1. Without turning the power off, remove the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall socket.
  2. Wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cord to the printer and to the wall socket. Turn the unit on if it is not already turned on.
  3. Check the printer for the error message. If the error message continues, go to the next step.

Also, Don't forget to remove nozzle protective tape from the cartridge using the pink pull-tab.
Do not touch the copper contacts or the ink nozzles
Good Luck and have a nice day.

Red tinged and blurry pictures from hp 6380 printer

Try a head clean. This is usually accessed from the printer menu on the printer, or the properties in Windows. If this doesn't work you could have faulty cartridges. This can be common with refurbished/refilled cartridges.
