Question about Honeywell L4064B2236 Fan/Limit Control Heater

I have a 2006 model tempstar central heat furnace with honeywell gas valve and electronic board. Heat ignition lights... one of two blowers light then turns off after igniter shuts off. Board gives error code 6

Try checking the gas pressure might be to high or low thats what i would check first

Tempstar DC90 willnot shut off


I can't stand the tempstar smart valve! Now I'm not sure what a dc90, but if you have a gas fire residential furnace I know what it is. The smart valve controls gas and flame proving only. The blower issue is probably one of the high temp safeties that has stuck. During a call for heat, your system verifies that all safeties are closed. If this sequence is not correct, then the unit assumes that the unit has overheated due to a high temperature safety issue, and brings the blower on to cool it down, normally for 90secs. Also if the unit is calling for heat when the power is turned off, still calling for heat when power is turned back on(like you said by throwing the switch), this will also bring the blower on for 90sec, then blower will/should turn off, and the heat cycle will start. So if your tstat is calling for heat(heat on and set temp higher than accrual temp), and you turn off power then turn power(main voltage) back on, this will bring blower on for 90secs. Now, the burners staying on is a different issue. I've not seen that in 15 yrs of service on a smart valve. There is probably 24volts feeding the "W" circuit, for some reason. On the control board there is a terminal block with R W G Y C. The W is your heat. This W receives a 24v signal from your tstat. Turn off power, remove W from the board, then turn power back on. If no heat then you've isolated your problem to the control wire coming from your tstat, or the tstat itself. If it continues to heat with W disconnected then its something in the furnace, circuit board? Hope this helps!

Furnace cuts off before reaching set temp.


You can make sure it is not the thermostat by crossing or jumping the R and W terminals (or associated wires) together. This will keep the furnace calling for heat. As it is approaching set temperature, get in front of the furnace and inspect the air filter to make sure it is clean, watch the control module for any error codes that may be turning off the system prematurely.

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

I have a Trane xe 70. The Heat is not turning on. The ignitor will glow but NO gas or blower. I turn on the fan and the blower does work but not when HEAT is selected on the t-stat. Also the LED light...


Check to see if you get 24 volts AC at the gas valve from the circuit board when the igniter is glowing. If yes, bad gas valve or blockage in gas train. If no, bad circuit board or broken wire

My furnace will not shut off on auto. the fan will not run when switched to on. what should I check?


Some new furnaces have a feature that when it has an issue, it starts the room air blower until you reset the thermostat or kill power to the furnace. Not knowing what you have for a system I can offer you only how a furnace works and what you could look for "generically".

My central heat is not heating It still blows


If the room air blower runs but the heat is not working, this is an indication that the heater has stored an error code. Your furnace has a diagnostic light that will blink a code. You should be able to view the LED thru a small viewing port in one of the front panels. If you have to remove a panel to get to it, it may erase the error code. If it does, tape down the door safety switch and cycle the furnace with the panel off. Once you get the error code, look on the wiring diagram for a diagnostic code chart. It may give you a starting point to help you. I am also including some other tips that may help.

Furnace will not heat.


Most of the Lennox G-16s that I have repaired were having problems with the gray Penn-Johnson Piggyback igniton control module.
This is best repaired by replacing the spark module. Sometimes it may be neccesary to replace the gas valve also. Lennox updated to a ROBERTSHAW ignition system. Honeywell can also be used.
Also check that there is no water in the pressure switch or tube.

Furnace pilot is not igniting.


the first blower you hear is the inducer motor it pushes the exhaust out. sounds like abad gas valve.do you have a standing piloit light or is it eletronic ignition. if electronic and there is no glow you have a bad ignitor
