I have misplaced the manual. I know I am supposed to charge it for 15 hours prior to first use but I have not used it or recharged it for over a year. Please send a downloadable manual. Assuming it would need to be charged as if it were new, I plugged it in and pushed the recharge button. Nothing happened. I then hit the ON/OFF button and Recharge. The On/Off showed a red light and the Recharge showed a steady green light and there was an annoying siren going off.

SOURCE: keeps beeping when recharging

It sounds like you need a new battery (this is what the beeping is) even though its only a year old the battery needs replaced!

SOURCE: charging Black and Decker Simple Start

First plug the charge adapter into an outlet, then plug into the unit. Push the power button to turn the unit on. Now, push the button for the light. The light should come on. At this point you hit the charge button and the green light should start blinking and there will no beeping. Then turn off the light. The green light should continue to blink and the unit will charge. This worked for me, hope it helps!

SOURCE: lawnmower won't start up

I have the EXACT same problem with my mower. I called the Black & Decker number listed above, and learned that the mower is under recall for this problem. So call them and find out where the nearest dealer is, and they will fix it for free.

SOURCE: keeps beeping when recharging

Here is what the B&D website says.
"If the unit starts to beep continuously, let it beep for about 1 minute, then turn the unit off and unplug the charger from the unit. Allow the unit to sit a full minute and then repeat the charging process.
If you still experience difficulties with the unit beeping after about ten attempts to charge, we recommend bringing the unit back to the retailer for an exchange, or taking the unit to the nearest factory-owned service center for assistance. "
Apparently, the chip needs reset. It didn't work for me though.

They say the chip needs reset.
It didn't work for me though.
