My samsung blu ray doesn't play regular dvd disk anymore. what can i do. just stopped working a day ago. stills plays bluray disks

i would check the disks you use, and try blu ray and dvd and make sure they aren't scratched or marked

Try to update the firmware on the player by going to this website http://www.blu-ray.com/firmware/firmware.php?id=10 the newest version is 5.20 fixes alot of problems including playback issues with some BD movies and safe the file into a flash drive and plug it in on the back USB port, go to menu/firmware update run the update.

this could be a failure in the processing secttion of the card. since this is only months old it is important that you take this for warranty claims and get the immediate attention. It could be also expensive if it is out of warranty, possible failure of the proccs board.

What type of blu-ray disks? Store bought or homemade or ALL blu-ray disks? Have you tried cleaning the lenses?

Samsung BDC-6500/XAA Blu-Ray player will only play Blu-Ray Dvds it will not play regular DVDs or CDs. I have updated to the latest firmware but it will just play blu-ray discs only still.
Bluray uses a different laser than dvd/cd playback. You will need to have the deck replaced. Hope it's still under warranty.

Connect the ethernet cable to the backside of the samsung bluray 1500 player ethernet connection with the bluray player power on with no disk & it will automatically update your bluray. It should be work fine after update your bluray. Good Luck!

Loading blu ray in player it goes to reading the dvd then a straight line appears on tv and appears to be loading then stops 3/4 of the way and stalls at that stage and does not allow dvd to play have...
Update the firmware on your player
........thoroughly clean the disk that you are trying to use

I have a samsung blu ray 1080 hd that won't read disks when inserted it displays the message disk can not be played
Are you tryign to play back hoem made / burnt discs? If so the format more then likely is NOT compatibe with the bluray disc player....This is very common...You must rememeber bluray just came out and right now you have to expect it to only play conventional DVD's and blue disc's any other format is most likely not compatible

My Samsung bd-p1580 Blu-ray player crashes on start-up and the picture goes fuzzy like an old video tape. If I leave it on for a while at this stage then do the reset (hold FF for 15 sec) it comes to life but will randomly crash when watching a movie, but if I leave it on for a while without a disk in (when working) it works for longer. I thought it might be the Capacitors (the charge) but I replaced all the electrolytic ones and still the same problem, so I can only think it’s a RAM problem or its one of the Film/ceramic capacitors. Any ideas?
