Issue: ERROR LCD: Release the scanner lock switch and turn the power off and back on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Solution: Unlock the scanner lock switch

The scanner must be unlocked before turning the unit on.

Turn off the power.

Lift the document cover.

The scanner lock switch is on the left hand side of the underside of the document cover.

Slide the scanner lock switch to the release mark (an open padlock icon).

Lock the switch before transporting.

Close the document cover.

Turn the machine on.

If machine still is not working repeat the power off / on cycle waiting 5 seconds in between.

This worked for me:
Unplug (not just turn off) the printer. Wait at least 20 seconds, then plug it back in. Hold the Feed Switch down, then turn on the printer (continue to hold the Feed Switch down). When the printer finishes cycling the paper feed, release the Feed Switch. Copy anything and it should print. You're good to go.

Error 5700 is showing up on my printers display and i cant get rid of it so it won't let me print, scan, fax or photocopy. I've turned it off and on, cleaned it out but still no luck

Error 5700 is a paper feed or paper sensor malfunction error: make extra sure that you do not have any jammed piece of papers in your paper feed/roller mechanism.

If you tried turning if off and UNPLUG from AC main for a few minutes and it has not reset the printer, try the 'soft' reset by holding the ON/OFF switch down for say 5 seconds after the screen goes blank, then release the ON/OFF button and let stand for a couple minutes before powering up again.

If it does not work, call the Canon Help desk for further assistance!

Good luck!

Canon MP830 Error Code 6AOO

The error seems to indicate a failed sheet feed, check the paper path to see for any stuck bits of paper, however I have heard that this can also be caused by a flaky sensor in the paper path.....

apparently the best way to deal with this is to turn it upside down and give it a shake.

hope this helps

Alarm and data lights are on. Won't feed paper and makes load noise when you hand feed the paper

When the alarm and data lights are on, means that the toner is empty and you wont be able to print until you purchase a new toner and replace it.
Copy the link below to see how to replace the toner.

It is one of two things.

a bad ink cartridge (the chip located on the gold part of it)
or
bad USB cable.

IF you have a spare cable simply change them out.

If you are refilling your cartridges, it is time to replace them.

Feed switch & alrm light on

The MP 830 usually will give you an error code in the display. If these lights just come on and you don't hear anything moving inside and no error codes, the main logic board could be bad. A rather expensive repair. Have you tried unplugging the printer and plugging in again?

First, make sure that paper feed switch is set accordingly to the paper path you are using (rear feed, bottom feed or friction). If you make a change, turn the unit off and on.

If it is set correctly, there might be an obstruction on the printer top cover that interferes with the cover sensors. This forces the printer to think that the lid is still open and will signal it as you have described.

The last option will be a damage to the sensors or to the mainboard. This is rare, but if the case, you need a repair center.

Be blessed.
