Question about Samsung RB215LASH

1 Answer

Model: Samsung RB215LABP Bottom freezer The ice maker is full of ice and seems to be frozen, as it won't release said ice. I heard to press a black button for a while to make it come out, but that has not done anything. How can I make my ice maker clear out and produce ice again?

Defrost the whole thing. Put everything in a cooler and turn the freezer to 0ff or zero. Open the doors to speed things up.

I noticed that the ice maker on my RB215LABP / RB215LASH was stuck with ice in the tray and would not cycle. The obvious thing to do was to unplug the fridge enough to loosen the ice and hope that it would cycle. This would be the same as a power outage. After 30 minutes, the ice was loose, but the ice maker didn't cycle. Additionally, both the freeze and the fridge indicators were flashing a single bar. The net was very little help other than to "call a Samsung tech". I did what I typically do - play with the controls ;). I held the super freeze and super cool controls for > 5 seconds and the entire LED panel lit up and the fridge started beeping. Holding just the super cool control for > 5 seconds returned the fridge to normal indication and the controls now worked. Additional research on the net revealed a secret black button under the ice maker. If you hold this button, it will manually cycle the ice tray and release the ice. Multiple cycles may be required. Here is the link showing the button:http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/... The fridge seems fine now. I'm especially displeased that this information was not in the owners manual, or readily available online. Hope this info helps someone else out!

Simple but a pain. Unplug the refrigerator. Get out your hair dryers and start de-icing the freezer door. Slowly but surly you will get freezer open. Be gentle. Dry EVERYTHING!!! Tracks, rails.....then replace part, plug back in, restock.

Is it getting water? If not, Most likely water valve is faulty and not letting water through, or feed tube through back freezer wall to ice maker is frozen which would be caused by dripping valve. It's either the valve or the ice maker not sending voltage to valve.

Those ice makers get stuck from frozen ice portions. Try feeling around to see if anything in the icemaker is frozen up or any foreign object. Please do this with fridge unplugged. If you can't find any frozen or other obstruction then use the hair dryer to defrost the ice maker. This is only a guess from past experiences. My kids once put pop cicle sticks in the ice maker wanting to make ice cube on a stick. Goodluck Google burdfrenzy

Samsung refrigerator freezer not freezing

I just returned the same fridge to Lowe's where I bought it using the warranty for the same problem. The temperature sensors went out, and everyone said the computer board needed to be replaced but no one could seem to get it together enough to order us one. Month later we are getting a new fridge.

-2 although below freezing temperature, is not really enough to keep food really frozen. I am presuming we are talking in Celcuis. You need to set the freezer to a lower setpoint.

Samsung Ice Maker

There is no adjustment for the water level. 9 times out of 10 this problem is with the electric water valve itself. It is not opening all the way, and since the amount of water that is allowed into the ice maker is on a time control, the tray is not filling properly. A new water valve should fix the problem. Not very difficult to install. Shouldn't cost more than $25.00 from an appliance parts store. Good luck, dfink
