Question about York Furnace Draft Inducer Blower Fasco # A224

Just replaced an inducer motor on my York 80 furnace. Now it shuts off and blinks 8 times, due to flame shuts down 5 times. I cleaned a flame sensor as well to no avail. Does any one have other suggestions

Replace the fuel nozzel.....if its plugged or restricted it will do this....change fuel filters as well

Furnace was working fine and just stopped working...it reacts to raising the thermostat but doesnt actually flame on


This is probably a ignitor.


1. Thermostat calls for heat. 2. Draft inducer motor starts. 3. Pressure switch attached by a small plastic or rubber tube senses the negative pressure produced by the draft inducer and closes. 4. Draft inducer runs for 30 seconds to a minute before you hear a gas hissing sound. The ignitor did not glow, the flame sensor (a small metal probe about 1/8" in diameter, with a white porcelain base) does not sense the flame, so after 8 to 10 seconds the hissing sounds stops with no ignition of gas to heat your home. Your furnace shuts down and goes into a lock out condition until you turn your power switch back off and on again. Then the sequence starts all over again with no ignition of the gas. Solution:You probably need to purchase and install a new ignitor. I would suggest that you inspect your ignitor closely for cracks.Make sure you do not touch the ignitor with your bare hands. If you do not visually see a crack, then you could have a furnace control board problem or a limit, rollout switch problem. Please see "limits, rollout switches & furnace control boards" further down on this page. The furnace's control board might not be supplying the voltage to the ignitor. I have a newer tappan heater and get 4 blinks on led for error code the unit starts up fine and has flame but flame goes off when blower kicks on

Have a ruud achiever 90 plus furnace. the flame goes out after the igniter quits. any ideas

I have a York Diamond 90 furnace and when i try to start it, the pilot light goes on then it shoots the flame into the furance, but will shut down a minute or so after that. It sounds like the blower is...


The furnace is not sensing the flame. Turn off the power.
There is a metal rod in front of the last burner to light. It is corroded and needs to be cleaned. Its the flame sensor .
take the 1 screw out holding it in to the bar and scrub it with some steel wool till shiny. replace and turn on furnace. all should be fine.

My york diamond 80 can be fired up, but it is shut off automaticaly after approx. 20sec. This can be repeated 3 times. I beleive the fun and borad panel are working fine.


The flame sensor might have dust build up on it. The flame sensor makes sure that the system has ignited before it starts the main blower. If it ignite and burns for 15-20 seconds then goes out that is most likely your problem. Identify a probe that is in the direct path of the flame(usually in the last burner tube from the gas source), it will have one wire coming off of it and usually has one screw holding it in place. As time goes by the sensor will get a build up on it and stop functioning. Turn the power to your furnace off, then remove the screw and then gently pull the flame sensor out. Using a MILD abrasive like panty hose of paper towel (DO NOT USE sand paper) clean the sensor and then put it back into place. Tighten the screw and then turn your furnace back on. That should fix your problem.
