Lexmark Interpret S405 will not print color


First, make sure that you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges. If not, replace the color cartridges.

Second, try updating the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.

Third, perform a maintenance on the cartridges. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead.

If the steps above doesn't help and you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges and provided that your printer is still under warranty, please contact our technical support team to have the printhead replaced.

If not, you can go to www.lexmark.com to purchase a printhead.

A firmware update for the Lexmark Interpret S405 printer addresses print quality issues including problem you are describing. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark S400 Series Firmware Update. If more than one download is listed for your model, choose the first download in the list. If it is the wrong firmware level, an error message will tell you which firmware level is correct.

It could be a printer driver issue. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem.
First, clear the print queue from any stuck print jobs. You can do the steps mention - going to Services and stop the print spooler, delete the files in the spooler folder and then restart the service.
Second, delete the existing Lexmark Interpret S405 printer driver. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, reboot your pc when prompted.
Third, visit the Lexmark website to download and reinstall the Lexmark Interpret S405 printer driver. Select the version of your Windows operating system. Download and execute the file. Follow the instructions on your computer screen.
After the reinstall process is successful, try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

I have obtained a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer (secondhand) but there is no installation disc. How do I get my hands on one?


The link below take you to the Lexmark Interpret S405 page to download drivers and software. You may have to change your operating system (OS), the default is Windows XP 32-bit. You want to click the "More>>" button to find the link called "Complete drivers and software for setting up,....". You probably dont need to update the firmware unless there is a problem after installing.
