Question about DISH Network Ir To Uhf Dish Network Remote Control Upgrade Kit

1 Answer

My Dish 5.3 remote no longer turns my TV on/off, nor does it control volume. All other aspects are fine.

Thanks for your idea, but I have had no luck with these instructions. Perhaps I am not clear with the concept, or maybe this remote,5.3ir for my DTV Pal DVR is not the same as for a DISH satellite receiver. Further, I am not clear on TV 1 or TV 2 aspect. I only have one TV and when I get to step 3, pressing the UP button every 2 seconds, the TV never turns off. End of story.

Hi christinehacmy name is Mike Houston of DISH Network and I was reading over your post andthe remote has lost the code for your TV. There is a step called Power Scan forthe DISH Network remote, I will send a link that will help with these steps. http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/power-scan-instructions

Thank you for your reply to my earlier post, if you can please tell me what kind of TV you have I can get the codes from the site here at DISH Network and I will send them to you. With the Power Scan, step three, pushing and releasing the channel up button, the process can take up to 20 minutes. I am very sorry I did not tell you the time length it can take up to.

Mike, Thanx again for taking the time to give me a hand. My set is a 40' Samsung, LNT4061FX.

Thank you for that the codes for your Samsung TV are: 738, 680, 516, 679, 666, 573, 655, 656, 665, 653, 654, 658, 659, 664, 523, 526, 566, 606, 669, 670, 704, 717, 730, 738, 755, 504, 500, 505, 506, 612, 627, 647, 652 and 667. The first thing you will want to do is hold down the clear TV button for 6 seconds and release, press the three digit code and press the pound button to lock in the code. Then try turning off the TV with the little red TV button.

Mike, I hate to say this, but those instructions did nothing. I tried about six different numbers. I would like to thank you again for your time, but I believe we are on a dead-end street. Perhaps I can attribute my inabilities to the last time I fell off the back of a turnip truck, and landed on my head. I will continue to work around this problem by using multiple remotes.
Thanks again, and have a nice day!

I have an ol RCA tv, new dish remote everything works but the mute button...i can raise and lower volume, turn off and on but not mute

Hi there Stacey, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. We do not promise that our remote will control all the functions of you TV. The codes used to program your DISH remote to the TV may be limited to some functions. You can try addressing your remote to the TV using different codes. I have listed the steps below to assist with programming the remote to your TV. If you have any other questions, let me know at Kimberly.escobar@dish.com!

You can lookup the different codes here: http://www.mydish.com/support/apps/remotecodes.aspx?WT.svl=leftnav

1.) Press and hold the clear TV button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and TV light will be blinking.
3.) Enter code and press #. The TV button should flash 3 times.
4.) Try functions (Volume, Power, etc..) and see if it is working.
5.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

DISH VIP612 Amplifier Control

DISH Solo DVR VIP612 Amplifier / Receiver Control

7c06801.jpg

Would you like to program the Universal Remote that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume of your receiver, tuner, or stereo instead of your TV's volume?

e818a57.jpg

The first step in using the Universal Remote Control that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume level of your receiver, tuner, or stereo is to program the remote to control your audio device using the AUX mode button.

Once your remote controls your audio device in AUX mode, you probably want to continue to control the volume of your stereo even if the remote is in SAT, TV or VCR mode.

To setup your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the AUX button until all the mode buttons are lit, and then let it go.
  2. Press the POUND (#) button.
  3. Press the PLUS side of the VOLUME button.
  4. Press 0.
  5. Press the POUND (#) button. The AUX button flashes three times to tell you the programming is complete.
  6. Confirm the VOLUME buttons are operating the tuner/amplifier's volume control by pressing SAT or TV, and then adjusting the volume. Your tuner/amplifier's volume should change rather than your TV's volume.

Your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote is now setup to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in

I hope that helps.

I have a Dish IR. Not sure of the model number. Uses 4 AAA batts. The problem I have is the every function seems to work fine except for the volume control. In order to change volume I have to use the TV...

It is possible that those buttons have failed, but a bit more likely the remote lost the codes for the TV itself... since almost everything the remote controls... is on the DVR. I apologize if I am guessing wrong in assuming other "TV" buttons (like INPUT) don't function either.

To re-program your remote to recognize your TV (like when the tech first set up the system) choose from the following receiver types to find the correct remote control TV codes for your Zenith.

Remote TV Codes for 722/622/612/411/222/211 Receivers
Remote TV Codes for 625/522/512/510/508/501 Receivers
Remote TV Codes for 811/381/322/311/301 Receivers

How to program remote to dish? 4.4 IR/UHF PRO

Your question is not clear as to whether you want to program the remote to your TV or the DISH receiver. Here are steps for both if this has not been resolved already!

DISH RECEIVER::
1. Go to the room where the receiver is located. With the remote for THAT room press menu twice. (This will be the remote with the Green 1 on the bottom.)
2. Press and release the SAT button on the top left of the remote
3. Press and release the black and red record button 3 times
4. Look that the number next to remote address (secondary Remote address) has changed.
5. If not, start again.

TV::
1. Hold down the Clear TV button until all lights at the top of the remote light up
2. Press the red TV POWER button
3. Press and release the up arrow on the remote about once a second until the tv turns off.
4. When it turns off, press the # (Pound) button
5. Try powering the tv on/off, and try the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over at step 1 again.

Hello!! There are a few ways to get this working to shut off the TV. I put some instructions at the bottom here. These are instructions for a power scan, which scans the TV for the correct code.

Hello, it sounds like all that you need to do is program your remote to the tv. Because I do not know the brand of your tv, I'll give you the power scan instructions. The power scan scans the tv for the correct remote code.

Hope this helps!!
