Try running the repair console from the CD.. fixboot, Fixmbr, And chkdsk /p may repair the missing or corrupt file other wise you can replace/install the missing file with another good working system and put the drive in an external enclosure.
Good luck!

Bootmgr is missing/dc5700

What do you mean by installing driver after format?
Format is a command that destroy all the data on your harddisk and creates new file system. This means that if you have formated your harddisk it is more or less probable that you don't have operating system anymore, so there is nothing to boot.

Error prompt: \WINDOWS\system32\c_437.nls

you have a windows system file corruption on the c_437.nls file which is a national languages file required by windows to run.

repair this problem following these instructions-

1. Boot your computer from your Windows installation CD- ie-insert the CD and restart your computer.
2. Select 'R' for the recovery console and log on as administrator.
3. At the command prompt type the following:
cd system32
then press enter
4. Then type the following:
ren c_437.nls c_437.old
then press enter
4. Then type the following:
EXPAND D:\I386\c_437.nl_ C:\WINDOWS\system32\c_437.nls
then press enter

(If your CD drive is different than D: or your primary hard
drive/partition is other than C:, substitute the appropriate
drive letters.)
4. Select yes when you're prompted to overwrite the existing file.
5. Reboot the computer.

Depending on the level of file corruption, you may have to repeat this
process for additional files. To do this follow the instructions above substituting the file name.

Have a recovery default disk and a recover application disk. I am getting an error message reading that the os may be corrupt or missing. windows/system32/config/system it says for me to insert the cd...

When you choose Repair option it would get you the repair mode. The disk is available to dos prompt or you can run any repair tools to correct the harddisk problems. But when you choose reinstall it would ask you the option to reinstall the operating system without formatting or with formatting. If you wanting to just reinstall the operating system to sure the missing or corrupted files be recopied choose the option from the reinstall menu without formatting. Let me know the solution helped. I could also help you out more or how to fix the harddisk if it wouldn't allow you reinstall without formatting!! Send me your contact information and would help you further instruction by instruction in your specific probem.

I have an asus eeepc 900. i have an error message

hi charmed4031this netbook comes with an internal harddisk on which windows is installed but lacks any optical drives so far.
You will have to get an external CD/DVD-drive plus a Windows-CD for it from which you safely can reinstall windows or replace the missing file. Please find out which windows version you are using(Win200, Win XP Home for e.g.,), lend or buy this external drive, connect devices and let the computer work it's magic, if still facing diffifculties, you know where to find us ;-)

Computer will not boot up

This is because of either the system has shutdown while it was processing a windows file. sometimes repairing the OS or running a CHKDSK /R in the recovery console will fix this problem. if that doesnt help i recommend you change your HDD

Problem with installing new windows OS on toshiba A105

You should put the drive back in the external caddy, delete the format, partition the drive for NTFS. format the drive and set as active.

Usb harddisk problem on LG 50PT81+ not compatibel XP

LG have created a solution that only allows you to backup to a hard disk in the format that they have created.
The hard disk can not then be read by a computer as they only recognize formats such as NTFS, FAT or FAT32: not LG´s format!!!

If you reformat the disk in FAT32 format then you can copy files to the hard disk and see your photos, or certain types of DIVX files and listen to music via your TV,......BUT...you can not save TV programs from the TV to the same hard disk UNLESS you allow the TV to reformat the hard disk to LG´s format ) in which case you will lose all the files you previously had on the hard disk.

In practice LG have created a backup solution that is of little use to most users particularly bearing in mind that the backup takes almost as long as the original programs and as long again to restore.

Most of LG´s products are very clever and have a tendency to be in advance of the market.

However on this occasion LG almost had a good idea but many users are going to feel tricked like I did,
