Once you install the memory into the slot the BIOS will update the memory configuration during the bootup proccess.
You can check to see if your new memory has been fully recognised by double clicking "System" in control panel.
If you check the amount of memory in System before the install and compare it afterwards you will know for sure if the memory has registered correctly.

How do i diy update my dell vistro 1510?

In terms of hardware, you would only be able to upgrade the Memory, Hard Drive, and possibly the CPU.

If you want to upgrade the operating system, you could put windows 7 or 8.1 on there.

But your best bet would be to get another laptop. .

Upgrading Toshiba Satellite A105 to Windows 7

Before you do anything I strongly recommend you upgrade the RAM to 2GB. Your system can only support 2 GB of DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1 GB per slot. Windows 7 will work OK with 1 GB, but more is better! One memory stick can be found under the keyboard, which can be accessed by popping the top plastic strip right in front of the monitor, unscrewing the two retaining screws, and lifting the protective film over the memory. The second module is on the bottom of the system . You unscrew the memory compartment, which is located directly below the battery and to the right of the Toshiba model sticker.

The rest of this Review is pretty much for any system. I will be providing more How-Tos specific to certain laptops soon.

Next, I suggest you clean install Windows 7 on your system. Even when clean installing, Windows 7 can preserve your entire original installation in a Windows. old file in the root of C:. This means you will be able to retrieve all of your documents and everything else, even run old programs from this folder temporarily. However, I would suggest migrating your files from windows.old to their corresponding folder in Windows 7.

Windows 7 has a massive preloaded driver database, so most of your hardware should be installed immediately. If there are drivers missing, and even if everything is covered, you should run Windows Update immediately to ensure you have the most current version of Windows 7 and all hardware drivers.

Finally, you need to the "Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7" . This will install the "Hot key functions" and additional drivers for the notebook that is not detected by Windows 7.

Restart problem after installing windows 7 after 2 hours.

It sounds like you are having an overheating problem.

Before you did your upgrade, did you do the free Microsoft test for compatibility? It tells whether you need to upgrade anything else - hardware too - besides your OS, before upgrading bo Windows 7.

Good Luck,

I am upgrading a Canon ir5000 copier to a network printer. I have the network card and 2 memory type dimms that came with the kit. Is there anything I need to know about installing them? Thanks, Nick

Along with the card and memory, you should've received a dimm chip and system software. You would also need the Canon Service Support software to load the correct version of software onto the machine.

I have a Satellite 2405-S221 and I was wondering if the max memory i can install is 512K, is there a way to update the bios, or ANYTHING to increase that amount to at least 1 gig??

Toshiba Satellite 2405-S221 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Toshiba Satellite 2405-S221 Laptop to up to a maximum of 512 MB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed.

In short.... yeah, 512k is the max.

Doesn't appear to a bios limitation. It is a hardware issue that is limiting the amount.

My Computer stopping

This problem is related to the RAM/Memory of your computer, so if you can upgrade the RAM of your computer that will definitely solve that rebooting problem when installing and playing games...

Hope that helps.........
