I just received this dv002 camera and can't get the battery compartment open. I'm afraid if I force it open, it will break.

You do not need to open up the battery compartment, as it is a built-in rechargeable battery. Use the cable included to recharge the camera.

My daughter put her camera's battery in wrong and now it won't come out. How do I get it out?

Batteries should go in very easy. If the battery is FORCED in backwards the camera and or the battery could have been damaged. If it went in backwards very easy then try this next step. If it was FORCED hard in please DO NOT: The battery is a heavy object. If it is accelerated and stopped quickly it may come out. AGAIN, DO NOT DO THIS IF IT WAS FORCED IN HARD. With battery compartment open I would hold the camera in one hand and slam it into the heel of your other hand to see if the battery will slip out. Again if it was really pushed in hard all you will do is break the camera BEFORE the battery comes out.

Open battery compartment

Spray WD-40 around the compartment door and try to let it trickle inside the compartment. That should break the acid corrosion buildup that holds the door from opening.

Battery/memory card compartment wont close

Don't force it. It could be that your memory card is in backwards. This is a common cause for your battery door to not shut.

Hope this helps!

Dial does not need to come off. The case halves will come apart with a little work. Did you get the screw in the battery compartment?
