*doesn't Had to fix my typo lol. I did get a more generic one last night online and when thru the diagnostic status report mode which showed c1 for active failures which is the interface, then when checking the operating temperatures in the same mode it had the following errors rl F2 (wireless remote thermostat failure), OA F8, IH F9. The F8 & F9 error codes aren't listed in this manual.

Wow!!! You've got a host of things going on. Actually, more than can be dealt with here online.
Although, the wireless remote thermostat issue, mat juts be that the batteries in the hand held remote need to be and/or the frequency coding for the hand held and the receiver may need to synched backup. All the other issues require an authorized service technician, as testing equipment is required. Sadly, it seems like the guys who installed it, may not know that much about servicing what they install and just gave you a quick answer. Which didn't solve the problem. If you continue to have problems with them blowing you off, contact Amana ( as it should still be under warranty ) and they will send someone else and they will send someone qualified to service and/or repair it. Also, thanks for the 4-Thumbs Up Rating, I really do appreciate it.

Heater, ac and fan speeds all working fine. Compressor not kicking in...just auxiliary heat working.

Outside temp too low, so outside thermostat and it's settings will not allow the heat pump to work. But insist on the ausilary heat to work instead. Heat pumps usually do not produce enough heat when below 40F outside temp. If you have Gas heat, it may be more economical than the heat pump below 40F. If electric auxilarry heat, it may compete at 32F. Talk to your dealer, installer, or manufacture.

How to tell if your unit is a heat pump or just air conditioner with electric heat strip

PTH is a heat pump. PTC is an air conditioner only. I don't believe Amana makes electric heat strip-only models based on what I see in their literature. You can just do a google search and look for yourself.

I have an Amana PTAC unit model no. PTH153B50AM. It will not heat, but the fan runs continuously in the heat mode. The unit has a label that says it has a manual reset for the heater, but no direction as...

First unplug the unit......Take the front cover off, take the wire screen off where the front fan is there is 4 or 5 screws that hold the plate that was under the screen. The electric heating elements are under that plate between the evaporator coil and the front blower wheel. It will lift straight up and give you access to the elements. In the electric heating element area there is a limit switch with a red or black button in the center of it push it to reset the limit it is on the right hand side by the controls. I wish I could find a picture to show you but I couldn't find one. It is not easy to get to... Hope this helps.

Where is the reset button on an Amana ASZ14 unit?

I don't think the Amana ASZ14 Heat Pump has a reset switch, but you can still reset it by resetting the power (when it's not running... turn your thermostat OFF first).

To reset the power, locate your circuit breaker box. There should be a double-breaker for the Heat Pump and another double-breaker for the Air Handler. Turn them both off for at least 2-3 minutes. Then flip them back on and turn your thermostat back ON.

You're thermostat may also have a RESET button that you can push. I have to reset mine every time I change the batteries in it.

sounds like your resetting the compressor its going off on high head pressure. check and make sure the condensor coils are clean. and that the fan is running properly.

Sounds like if this is a heat pump, maybe it tripped out on high pressure. Maybe just unplugging the system may reset the control boards. This maybe due to a dirty filter or dirty evaporator coil.
