Unlocking and jailbreaking iphone is not at all a big problem now. There are lot of ways that you do it. But You should be very careful, while trying to unlock your Iphone. Always go for a trusted vendor or website or application to do that. I have unlocked and jailbreaked my iphone 4 from Jailbreak Unlocker Pro. It worked well without any trouble.Try this. This is the most safest way to unlock or jailbreak your iphone. The service is great and price is very low....Good customer service too

SOURCE: iPhone 3G Error 0xE8000001
I just had this problem and it turned out to be... It didn't like my iPod cable. Switched to the iPhone cable and it worked.
Seems to be an iPhone 2.0 prob, or 3g prob, since I was using the iPod cable to sync my old iPhone just fine.
