The main reason for a chain to tighten is because it is not getting enough oil to the bar, or too thin an oil is being used, you should see a good spray of oil off the end of the bar when held against a tree stump, if not try adjusting the flow if it has an adjuster.

Tension adjustment is on page 10. All chains are adjusted similarly, this one is reasonably complete, the only addition I suggest is to elevate the nose of the bar when adjusting and tightening. Experience tells me adjustments require many fewer tweaks when the nose is elevated.

Hi, you need to remove the plastic guard on the side, held in place by a nut and a screw. Replace the chain around wheel and chain guard, loosen tightening screw, replace plastic conver, and tighten tightening screw. Make sure you have the chain the right way round, there is usually a small diagram showing this. Hope this helps

there should be a screw at the back end of the bar.Screw it in to push the bar out ,or forward, thus makeing the chain tighter

Changing the chain

Loosen Chain.
Remove Chain.
Install new chain.
Tighten new chain.
Done.

Good Day, I have a McCulloch FG5700AK Generator that doesn't fire after the 1st pull. Got any ideas what the problem maybe? I pulled the spark plug, put it back in the coil wire then groundedit to the engine. Pull the cord & got a weak orange spark, pulled the cord again - nothing. If it the kind with the black half moon shaped plastic handle by the bar on the side loosen it and there should be another wing nut looking plastic knob to turn to tighten it.
