Where is the hard drive power connector

A) With a desktop computer harddrive, there is a separate power cable.

1) IDE (PATA) type of harddrive uses a 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable. Connector is misnomered as a Molex connector.

(First company to make the connector is named Molex. Name stuck kind of like Crescent wrench, for an adjustable open-end wrench. )

Example of 4-pin standard Peripheral power cable,

SATA harddrives use a SATA power cable. It has 15 contact pins,

With a laptop harddrive there usually isn't a separate power cable.

The harddrive plugs into an Interface. A rectangular block with socket holes in it, which in turn is mounted to the motherboard.

Any time I plug anything into any of the usb ports on my Advent roma 4001 my laptop switches itself off. Please help!

If the laptop switches off as soon as you insert the usb cable, there is a problem with either the usb socket or the cable. It is a safety system which stops usb power being re-directed down the usb data lines.
If you have tried multiple cables with the same result then the problem is with the usb socket. try a different socket (a usb hub will help if you are short of spare sockets).
Using a mall light, and maby a magnifying glass, inspect the usb port for bent pins or contacts, some sockets have pins (older dell machines especially) which are not supported at all by plastic backing strip and can be bent easily by inserting the usb plug incorrectly or by children armed with a pen etc.
If you find bent pins (there should be 4 pins evenly spaced or 4 metal strips along a plastic backing peice) remove the battery and attempt to realign the strips with a small screwdriver. switch the laptop on and try a usb plug in the socket - make sure you insert the plug gently and squarely (and the right way round). If the laptop still fails, have another go or ask someone else (who is nimble fingered and technically minded) to try it.
Don't give up (unless you find the socket is broken ie. missing pins) I can guarantee 99% that this is the problem.
good luck

Boot error chasis intruded f1 to continue

To solve this problem you need to open computer case, before you do that, you need to:

1. switch off computer
2. remove power cord
3. remove computer cover
4. find on motherboard pins named "chassis signal", this name can be inacurate as it changes slightly with revision. These pins are located just above SATA 1 (bottom socket), there is pin on the left, then empty space, then two pins, these two pins need to be shortened by cap, and that is all.
5. replace cover, reconnect cable and re-start your computer.

Hope you will be able use your computer now without interruption. Leave note how it went.

230 chauffeur doesn't charge. Batteries new and

hi, ok you mentioned nothing about the charger, is it built in ? or stand alone charger, can you try another charger ??

If you have a Electrical meter tester check that the charging socket pins do actually connect to the batteries if not check the charging socket,

of the three charging pins two are the positive & negative so should show 24 volts the odd one out the one in the middle just below the other two is the inhibit , that is normally grounded otherwords negative.

Sound like a loose connection so please check all connections if you are sure the charger is ok.

Need manual to put wiring back correctly please ta muchly

This is MSI/Support and the download page for the MSI MS-7104 V1.0
Motherboard Manual in Zip file form,
Granted, it's not the 2.0 version, but the Front Panel header is the same.

Click on the button with the countries name that is closest to you. I clicked on U.S.
If you don't have your downloads set, to download to your My Documents folder, it will go to your desktop.

Double-click on the file name. You will see the Extraction Wizard come up.

Go up to the top left, and click on Extract All Files.
Now you will see a PDF file on your desktop screen, with the file name under it. Double-click on this PDF file.

After you have opened it, and everything is there, you can go back to the Zip file on your desktop screen, right-click on it, and delete it.
Delete it from your Recycle Bin also, or it will be taking up needless room on your harddrive.

Orient the view of the motherboard, so we are both looking at it the same way.
The processor is at the Top/Middle, and to the very bottom right, is the JFP1 header. (Connector on a motherboard is called a header)
Over to the left of the JFP1 header is the JFP2 header. Looks to be about one inch over from the JFP1 header.

We'll start with the JFP1 header.
The JFP1 header has 4 pins across the Top. Then there is a place for a pin. No pin for where no.5 would be.
The JFP1 header has 5 pins across the Bottom.

The pins across the Top are numbered -> 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10, but there is NO, No.10 pin.

The pins across the Bottom are numbered -> 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9

Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power LED light. It doesn't have which pin is the Positive (+) but I suspect it's Pin 2.

Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch. Doesn't matter which way they go, it's a switch.

Pins 1 and 3 are for the HDD activity light. I suspect Pin 1 is the Positive (+) connection.

Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch. (If you have a Reset button. If not, don't sweat it)

Pin 9 is not used.

JFP2 header:
The JFP2 header has 4 pins across the Top. They are numbered
2, 4, 6, and 8.

There are 3 pins across the Bottom.
They are numbered 1, 3, and 5. There is no No.7 pin.

Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8 are used for an internal speaker. This speaker would be used to hear any BIOS Beep Codes. I suspect No. 2 pin is the positive (+)

Pins 1, 3, and 5 are used for the Power LED. I suspect what they're indicating, is an LED used to show Turbo Boost. In actuality I'm not sure. If your Power LED has a connector with three socket holes, it goes here. If your Power LED has two socket holes, it goes to the JFP1 header, and to Pins 2 and 4.
