New timer is probably wired wrong, or older timer probably needs new trippers.

Kenmore 110.86870100 Has power to the power block but the start button will not start the dryer

Get the schematic and look at the timer. there are two wires that you can jump across and verify that the timer is bad by bypassing it all together. If all your checks tested good then the timer is bad. If you have any doubt order the part from repairclinic.com because you get a full refund even if you put it in and it does not work

Compressor doesnot come on.

Hi the likely problem is that the defrost timer has got stuck in the defrost cycle. The defrost timer will either be part of the mother board if this unit has one or will be a mechanical timer located either in the control panel or behind the toe panel under the doors. Unfortunately you have not supplied a model number so i can't be more specific then that. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Mike

Timer knob doesnot move dryer will not turn off.

Clean the fabric softener off the metal strips located under the filter housing inside the dryer. If **** gets on them then they wont send a signal to the dryness board and advance the timer motor. Resistance is monitored between them 2 metal strips as yer wet clothes tumble in the dryer. Wetness is detected and the motor gets a no go. When the all clear is signaled up then they is happy motoring to the finish line.
