You can scan from the solution center on the computer provided that the software was already

  1. look for the hp solution center icon on the main desktop screen.
  2. double-left click to open it
  3. If it's properly installed ,you should be able to see scan menu (scan document, scan picture, home, settings, etc.)
  4. scanning from solution center is an alternative way of scanning other than scanning to computer
  5. start scanning from the computer using solution center software to unveil its features.
  6. for scan to PC: if your receiving no scan options error ,update the settings from solution center
  • click HOME on solution center
  • click scan settings
  • depending on your software version click the option available to you
  • scan to setup
  • front panel button settings
  • front panel scan button settings
  • transfer all files from the left hand-side over to the right-hand side by clicking on one item then by clicking on add until all get transferred.
  • click update device
  • try scanning from printer
if issue persists i suggest you download and install scan diagnostic utility to fix scan issues. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&jumpid=ex_r4155/hho/ipg/ccdoc/scan_diag/&lang=en&softwareitem=oj-90927-2

There is a 'white paper' available on HP's website that specifically addresses this error message. I'm providing the link for you that will take you directly to that page:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum...

Please read it and maybe print it out for reference... it explains what you need to do and THE ORDER you need to do it in. This should solve your issue...

At start up get "cannot

Does your machine boot up after that message? If it does I would recommend running a virus scan if you can.

You can also get some help from this site - it has a free scan option.

Scan problem with HP Officejet J5700: When I press scan the screen shows "No scan options, refer to device documentation for troubleshooting"

This particular error message is in regards with the software of the printer. Its either your printer is not communicating with the computer software for scanning or your firewall is blocking the software. But before we proceed with any troubleshooting steps why don't you check if you have hp solution center or hp director in your computer. If you have any of this two softwares try to scan usig it. If it will have an error message try to send any feedbacks
