This is due to failure of the VERTICAL fequency section.It can be due to possible damage on the vertical IC or the associated circuit which can be passive components, resistors or capacitors as only one half of scanning is seen and so the half picture.

Lift error can occur if headphones are plugged in as well. You could also try unplugging and plugging it back in to reset it.

count the blinks on the power light--most will have a error code where the power light blinks a specific number of times---does not point to a specific part but indicates what area problem is in.

Have a Sony 32" Trinitron TV manufactured in 1997. Need remote to get into menu. Setup, tv/video,volume,channel,power and stand-by timer on bottom front of the tv. Very heavy,decent picture. Need to see...

Sony DSC-P73 Display Problem...all picture shows n half & half in display ...Exemple ..one pic I take ..it will show at display like ,,bottom half of the pic at the TOP...top half at the BOTTOM..in...
Please try resetting the Camera to the factory settings by pressing the reset button and check if it helps. If the issue persists, please try Power resetting the Camera. To Power reset the Camera, remove the batteries from it, then press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds. Now, reinsert the batteries in the Camera and check the functionality. If the issue still persists, then the Camera requires service. You can get the Camera serviced at the precision Camera service center in your area.

When initially turned on TV will alternat between picutre & black
When the tv goes to a black screen does the sound remain on? Also,if you listen carefully can you hear any arcing noises in the back of the tv?

What inputs are you viewing. Color can often be lost when viewing the S-Video input if there is a bad cable.
Also you can loose color when viewing a broadcast signal if the reception is weak.
Color can also be lost if the tuner in the television is being over driven by a signal that is too strong, try using an RF attenuator from radio shack.
