Question about Sound Dynamics RTS1200 Speaker

Awww, i inherited a rts-1000 series amp and four tower speakers and i'm in such great need of manual(s). This looks like an awesome system and although i've been out of electronics for years (due to knee surgeries); i like to believe i still recognize a great sound system. thanks, ron macleod thank you thank you!

Knee surgery keeps you out of electronics?

A web search for "Sound Dynamics RTS-1000" finds nothing good about it, nor can the company be found, so what does that tell you?

That aside, there's not a lot of uniqueness among subwoofers and their setup.

Web search "subwoofer setup" or find just about any brand of subwoofer and view its manual for the steps.

I got 2 10in kicker comps and the rms on them each is 150 watts and can i hook them up to a 1000 watt sony xplod 2 channel amp and do i use both channel or just one or bridge them


1st thing is amps outputs have to be properly "loaded" this value is given in "ohms" if your amp says minimum speaker "loading" impedance is 4 ohms ( I suspect it does) then you may load that 1 channel down to only 4 ohms or amp will be damaged , most speakers are rated in ohm's Impedance (look for Greek symbol for omega) look for its rating somewhere on it doing the electrical formula math if you connect two 4 ohm speakers in parallel to one channel ( +=+ / -/- ) this divides down to 2 ohms (not good) but if you take same speakers and connect in series together (+to-/+to-) this gives you eight ohms (better) , the watts rating is a figure for you to determine the amount of power the speakers will take before failure , hence just because you connect 200 watt speakers to a 2000 watt amp is no indication that speaker will take all 2000 watts ( it will fail long before that point ) watts do ADD together like the above example two 4 ohm 250 watt speakers connected to one channel of amp in series will look like ONE 8 ohm 500 watt speaker to amp of course over 16 ohms load speaker volume will greatly diminish and amps have max impedance loads for them as well although there not often published
this is why I love the old TUBE!!! amps they load all the way down to 2 ohms and go up as far as 32 ohms load with no problems , they sound better as well across the board as well

If you have the Nitro bmw-482 running it at 2 ohms will give you the max output (its not 1ohm stable so don't run it that way). First run your two dvc speakers parallel (run both negative out puts together and both positive out puts together on each speaker). After this you should have 1 positive and 1 negative wire from each speaker (4 wires altogehter). This will give you a 1 ohm load which your amp can't handle, so you have to run the 4 wires in series to create a 2 ohm load. Now take the positive wire from 1 speaker and connect it to the negative wire from the opposite speaker. Thats how to run in series. Now you should have 1 positive wire from 1 speaker and 1 negative wire from the other speaker which is 2 ohm load. Your amp sould be bridgeable, so connect the positive wire into the correct terminal of your amp and the negative wire into the correct terminal of your amp according to where to bridge it (positive into left positive, negative into right negative) . That will give you a 2 ohm load bridged which is the most power you can get out of your amp 300 watts. Medium quality amps are over rated so you will never acheive the 1000 watts as advertised.

Well what you are dealing with is a HI-FI tube amplifier. The reason it has COM, 1, 2, 4 and 8 are because it does not have a transistor driven output. It has a transformer coupled output. The 1,2,4,and 8 are the different taps of the transformer in order to impedance match your load (speaker) with the tube power section. This amp is 270 per channel and your speakers are only suggested to 120Watts. You would use the Negative to the common terminal and the plus to your 8 ohm terminal on the Amp. This is a great amp, you should keep this and not sell it.

I have four Beolab 6000 speakers and a sub-woofer. How can I use these with a Sony or Panasonic TV system?


That would depend on the unspecified 'TV system' and its speaker requirements and controls. Most TV's don't support directly-attached speakers. Since these are self-amplified, half the battle is won.

The Beloab 6000 speakers DO support connection to non-B-and-O products through the RCA Line In jacks but that presumes you have external volume control.

The unnamed subwoofer probably won't work with a TV. More details would be needed.

This speaker system would work with any 'standard' component-style system if you wanted to use them for the TV AND other sources.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Yes, ur setting needs to be changed. On fliping the settings u will realise in one of the modes mostly the surround mode the speakers will work.

Realistic MPA-35 amp by Radio Shack


It's not that this amp isn't like "newer amps" with + and - terminals, it's that this amp is made for public-address system use. This kind of amp is used in a store, for instance, to pump background music through speakers all over the place. The terminals you connect to are determined by total impedance of the speaker configuration used.

Most single speakers, or the two- or three-way cabinets for home stereo systems, are 8 ohms. If you're connecting a single speaker you use the "common" and "8 ohm" terminals on the rear panel. With multiple speakers, you need to figure out the total impedance and use the appropriate terminal. In series, impedances add. Two 8 ohm speakers in series would total 16 ohms, so you use the common and 16 ohm terminals. In parallel, the total impedance drops. Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel total only 4 ohms. You need to figure the total impedance of the speaker configuration and connect accordingly. Too great of a mismatch will damage the amp or speakers or both.

You might be able to find the manual for this amp on Radio Shack's website. Here's a link to the manual for the model MPA-40 which should have similar output terminals. The basic information about figuring out total impedance and general use of PA amps applies to your amp as well.

Yes! The speaker outputs will have an impedance rating from 4Ʊ to 16Ʊ. If you have two speakers that are rated at 8Ʊ they can be wired in parallel for 4Ʊ total or in series for 16Ʊ total. You can even connect more speakers in a series-parallel circuit, say four to result in a sum of 8Ʊ, 16 speakers to result in 8Ʊ and so forth! Study Ohm's Law and you will see how the circuit looks. Series connection for example will have the + lead from one speaker to the - lead of the next then the + of that speaker back to the - of the first speaker. Parallel is just that + to + and - to -. Series parallel is just a combination of the two circuits. If you have a several speakers of the same size within a single cabinet that are all in phase it is like one giant speaker as it is the air moved that makes the sound. Bose speakers phased-arrays use a sophicated application of this principal to get awesome bass with less distortion than one big woofer. Do not go under or over the impedance rating or the amp could suffer. Fusing can help.

Running 4 12s with two insignia 1000 watt amps


Use a pair of two-channel amps that are two-ohm stable, and wire a pair of subs to each amp. Wire them in parallel so the amps see two ohms (wiring in series will show four ohms). Doing this effectively "doubles" the power of the amps. If the amps are not two-ohm stable, they'll fail. Parallel wiring means putting the positive wire of sub 1 to the positive terminal of channel 1 on the amp, and the negative wire of sub 1 on the negative terminal of channel 2. Do the opposite for the second sub. This will give you a LOT of bass response as long as your sub enclosures are properly sized for the speakers.
