Well I just changed the capacitor on my washer. It would fill with water and stop. My first thought was lid switch it checked out good. Next timer but usually if you switch to another type wash cycle it did not work so I thought timer must be good. I tried to get it to pump out so I pulled pump off shaft and it turned free( I have direct drive to pump no belt) Two metal band clip on to hold pump and motor shaft turned free. I then checked capacitor it would not charge and was not storing charge. The capacitor can shock you very bad do not touch metal connectors till you discharge stored voltage. I dropped water level by just putting end of drain hose in five gallon bucket I had to dump several buckets. I ended emptying by scoping water out with big plastic cup into bucket. I have no bottom on my Maytag so I just leaned it against the wall to get to pump and capacitor. A couple times when I tried to start with washer full of water, I would hear a buzz sound at bottom but not every time. Washer has been working great for 2 weeks now. Make sure to unplug washer before working on it.

When door locks like that next time. If you remove the top of the machine. Reach down inside on left side. There is a small wire cable that you pull up on. Will manually unlock the door. Then plug power cord in to wall. Power it on let it go through reset cycle and it will work properly again. However if you can't reach the latch through the top. Tilt washer forward and reach up from the bottom. If you get an F1 code it's low water pressure.

Don't try to fix it yourself it could cost you more in the long run but if the shaft isn't turning the propeller more than likely there is something in the pump stopping it like a small sock for example call a repair tech worse case is u need a new pump

Hi!!
Click on the following link for a diag. of the control panel. to get access to the back of the Control Board http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/partsdirect/showSubComp.pd?imageUrl=http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/W0901032-00003.png
check that wiring harness (#8) connections to the Electronic Control Board are tight and the wiring is not broken, burned or damaged. Disconnect the Unit and feel the wire harness (#8) for any small bumps or deformities, repair as needed.

Good Luck! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!
