From my understanding of modern ovens, it should only lock like that if it's doing it's 'self-clean' cycle. It's possible that the locking module was 'tripped' by the high heat or somehow thought that is what it was instructed to do. If the problem happens again when the oven is set to 400 (and not self clean) it may be a damaged module/sensor

Hello,This means the control pad is faulty and need to be change.
Thanks

This is a common failure of the control board. It is often accompanied by a intermittently blank display. The board is no-longer-available but we can rebuild it for you at www.fixyourboard.com.

If you have a Whirlpool oven, the F2 E6 error means that the Cancel key line is open. You will need to replace the keypad or the keypad and controller board (if a single assembly) if the keypad doesn't respond to a press of the Cancel Key.

I hope this helps.

fiest press the on key see if the display comes if not the turn the power off for 5-8 seconds if that doesnt do it turn power off then pull the oven out from the wall and remove the top to acess eoc pull the mylar ribbion out of the eoc by releasing the latch which is a tiny pullout bar at the base of the connector at the eoc then you cam clean the ribbon gently with a clean pencial eraser also under the top panel will be a tech sheet with more info pay atten to resseting the oven cavity size on start up

F2-E1 - Touch Pad (Keypad) Cable Unplugged -
Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure.
Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds.
If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly.

It appears your timer/clock has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.^^^^^^^^

Hi,
I ended up calling a technician to come out and look at it. He said that the front panel where you push all the buttons went out and I would need to get a new panel.

Much like a computer, electronic appliances sometimes need to be restarted. To reset your oven, unplug it from the power and leave it unplugged for at least 30 seconds. If the beeping resumes after the oven is plugged back in, it will be necessary to determine the cause of the error code.
